Hobie kayaks have a tube to add a sail. Hobie sell a ram ball that screws and tightens in the tube to allow a ram ball to be attached. I simply removed the ram ball and added the RAILBLAZA SwivelPort and then later changed to the Adjustable StarPort Extender. It is a great mod to have the nav light central and in reach plus also a central mount for the go pro on the Platform Boom 150. With the adjustable extender at 90 degrees I could also put the StowPod if needed.
I took the male StarPort piece off the swivel port and then screwed straight into the wedge part of the Hobie sail mount. Basically I just swapped the ram ball for a StarPort. It would be even easy with the RAILBLAZA MiniPort TracMount as you would only have to remove the trac nut.
I think this mod could be awesome if it was used with a small TracPort Dash 350. It would allow 2 rod holders and a sounder in the middle. Great potential with the slimmer hobie kayaks with minimal space. Now I wanna try that one. Sean Magee.
