Q & A

Does anyone know if this fits a Quest Outlands 100 Kayak? Maria asked on September 4, 2024

The mount is not going to be specific from boat to boat, I recommend taking some measurements of your boat, you need two flat spots for the starport hd's or two flat wall panels that have inner access so you can hard mount it using sideports. As long as you have the room and capacity for it you can install it.

Can the mount be placed in the center, I have a Fishcat I9r and would like to mount my motor forward of my seat? Bobby asked on June 29, 2023

You can install it anywhere you would like that make sense for your application. I can't say how the boat will handle mounting it in the middle tho.

Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a kayak motor mount for my inflatable kayak. Its a Saturn FK396 fishing kayak. It has D rings for additional seats and aluminum platforms for additional gear but I would like your guys opinion on the best way to mount it? If you could take a look at the kayak and let me know what brackets / mount id need ill place an order today! Cheers, Brandon Brandon Bourque asked on June 6, 2023

You would need 2 of the RibPorts. To install them you would to heat up the RibPort with a heat gun or hair dryer to make it bendable. Then glue them on with 2 part epoxy and let set for at least 2 days.

How can this be mounted horizontal? In the video, it appeared the anchors are mounted attached to the side of the kayak wall. I own an inflatable Scout 430, which have flat aluminum benches. I feel like this would work perfectly with my Bixpy, just need a way to mount it to the bench? Peter asked on May 29, 2023

The StarPort HDs would be installed onto your aluminum bench. the extra support for the side of the kayak would not need to be installed for it to work with your boat. We do not have a Scout available to see how the seats are installed. You would have to make sure the seats can handle the torque of the motor.

I installed the RAILBLAZA mount on my 13 ft. Ocean Kayak Trident. I really like the ability to remove the mount easily for transport or when I'm not using the trolling motor. The RAILBLAZA motor mount works just as advertised!

Excellent design and remarkable use of space-age materials. Placement of the Starports was minimally challenging and they are essentially invisible when the motor mount is removed. The nylon plastic attachments are very strong and a small 30 ft lb Minnkota motor offers satisfying thrust. A 50aH Li battery will last for many hours. A tip is to use a 10 lb weight at the contralateral end of the rack for perfect balancing of the boat.

Just starting to assemble motor mount. Instructions are fine up to mounting the last fastner to the kayak. The screws etc. are inappropriate for placing the last fastner to a kayak. You can’t get a nut on a screw in a closed body of kayak. I am going to try threaded wood screws to fasten the last piece to the kayak to be able to insert the double male cylinder. Instructions on this last part of the installation are non-existent. Please reach out to me by phone or by e-mail for instructions. Thank you, Oz

well made and seems to be very sturdy.

  5. AC

Excellent product, manufactured with high quality materials, looks and feels very strong, capable to hold my 55lb trolling motor, I am planning to installed in my Brooklyn TK122 Tandem Kayak, comes with everything you need for installation but for this type of kayak I suggest using longer screws to install a plastic resistance plate inside de kayak for strong attachment of the pieces that go attached to the kayak, just for security, I think that for lighter trolling motors like 36lb this won’t be necessary, well just a suggestion.
